With an average annual amount of over 5 million quintals of production, Italy is the second largest olive oil producer in the world. About 66% of it is represented by EVOO and lots of these have and lots of these have P.G.I. or P.D.O. labels.
Extra virgin olive oil vs olive oil.
EVOO and Olive Oil are not the same thing.
- The first difference is that Extra Virgin Olive Oil is obtained from the best healthy cold-pressed olives with mechanical processing, without any addition of chemical additives.
- The second is the maximum limit of acidity: 0,8% vs 1%.
This guarantees a better quality, naturalness and a greater number of nutritional contents.
EVOO: nutritional values and health benefits.
Made up of 99% of monounsaturated fat, Olive Oil is one of the most important ingredients in the Mediterranean diet and is responsible for the numerous benefits to human health.
The first main benefit is that it’s particularly suitable for containing bad cholesterol (LDL) in the blood and not affecting, or improving, the levels of the good one (HDL).
It also reinforces the immune system, and it has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, fights free radicals and it’s also a natural painkiller.
Thanks to its moisturizing properties, olive oil is also suitable for hair and skin and for this we have created dedicated bio cosmetic products.
Contains calcium, iron, potassium, sodium and zinc, it is also rich in vitamins E and K.
Where can you buy it?
Wine bars, supermarkets, farms or directly in the mill: extra virgin olive oil can be bought anywhere (in Italy).
But you can also buy it online, like on our e-shop.
How much does Extra Virgin Olive Oil cost?
EVOO has a higher cost than non-evo oil.
The price is influenced by the greater work linked to production, certifications, up to conservation and packaging.
It is a little more difficult to be able to enjoy a higher quality and healthy product.
